Founded in 2016 by David Angwenyi, the Kenya Cultural Diplomacy Initiative (KCDI) is a nonprofit organization committed to building bridges between Kenya and the United States through educational diplomacy.

Our goal is to create space for meaningful cross-cultural exchange, relationship-building, and collaborative development.

At KCDI, we are committed to bringing individuals, communities and institutions together to uplift communities, and solve real world issues impacting Africa, as well as our shared global community.

Connecting worlds through education

Our mission is to learn & grow as one.

Partnerships and Affiliations

We partner with mission-aligned organizations to design educational diplomacy programs between Kenya and the U.S. Collaborators include the University of Nairobi and its ACSUS center, as well as the Global Connections Foundation, which supports resilient communities in underserved areas of Kenya.

What began as a vision rooted in relationship has grown into a dynamic initiative linking communities through shared purpose and experience.

Now expanding to include professional education opportunities, KCDI offers programs open to all—providing access to certifications and transferable academic credit through our partner institutions. From cultural immersion to capacity building, we’re committed to uniting individuals, organizations, and institutions to address real-world challenges facing Kenya, Africa, and the global community at large.

Together, we believe we can grow, lead, and build a better future—for all.

The Kenya Cultural Diplomacy Initiative (KCDI) was created to strengthen ties between members of the Kenyan diaspora and their homeland. Through immersive travel, cultural exchange, and educational opportunities, our programs offer meaningful ways for Kenyans, both at home and abroad, to build personal and professional connections across borders.

Bridging gaps through culture, education, and connection.
